Second Annual Silicon Valley Tanabata 2011 – Festival of Hope – presented by SunBridge is the premier event connecting entrepreneurial Japanese individuals and companies withSilicon Valley influencers, including start-ups, venture capitalists, universities, government and business leaders. It will provide a blend of startup pitches, presentation sessions, and plenty of networking opportunities in an interactive, intimate and relaxed atmosphere at Plug and Play Tech Center. Expect 500+ participants – 250 each from the Japanese andSilicon Valley communities – in 2011.

Presented by SunBridge (founders of salesforce.com Japan and Oracle Japan) this is the premier event connecting entrepreneurial Japanese individuals and companies with Silicon Valley influencers, including start-ups, venture capitalists, universities, government and business leaders; and connecting US entrepreneurs seeking to expand to Japan to Japanese corporations, investors, institutions and individuals who can help. It will provide a blend of startup pitches, presentation sessions, and plenty of networking opportunities in an interactive, intimate and relaxed atmosphere.
Who: Up to 25 Japanese and 10 US startup companies and an audience of up to 500 individuals from US and Japanese corporations, VC firms, government agencies and the broader technology and business communities.

Jannovation Jam (Pitch Competition): 2:00pm-5:00pm (Doors open at 1pm)
In addition to 3-minute pitches from Japanese and US startups, presentations will discuss success secrets of entering the Japanese and US markets and include a panel discussion on gaining international media exposure. Startups will also have an expo area to demonstrate their products and meet with interested attendees. Two Japanese and one US startup will be selected as winners to each give a 10-minute presentation at the evening Tanabata Festival.
Tanabata Festival Party: 5:00pm-10:00pm
In addition to a celebration of and 10 minute pitches by the startup pitch competition winners, the Tanabata Festival Party will offer Japanese food, music, and networking opportunities with leaders of the US-Japan entrepreneurial and technology sectors, while raising funds for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief efforts of The Miner Foundation.

Fee: Following the application and selection process to choose the participating startups, a modest fee of $200 will be charged to participating companies to help offset event costs and provide a contribution to Japan earthquake and tsunami relief.
